Medicinal herbs – valuable helpers from nature

The knowledge of the healing power of plants is as old as mankind itself. Records of European monastery gardens of the Middle Ages are sometimes to thank for the fact that this knowledge has been passed on until today. Hildegard von Bingen was one of the most famous healers, who is often quoted even today.

Medicinal herbs are used by a wide variety of healing therapies. The leading one is phytotherapy, which, as a branch within conventional medicine, distinguishes between two different types of herbal medicines: rational and traditional. While the traditional ones are not approved for the treatment of serious diseases and do not have scientific evidence, the rational ones are studied, documented and monitored according to the same guidelines as synthetic drugs. Rational herbal medicines are available at the pharmacy!
